Ok, I live in Oregon and they are everywhere, I am drowning in a sea of them. All I can think is SWEATY! They even sell them at some of the natural grocery stores out here. I don't care how much of a west coaster I become I will never and I mean never where these icky things!

1happyjunker has the correct answer. They are mostly worn by hospital employees. They are comfortable, and are made of materials easily washed of with soap and water...unlike the tennis shoes that were so popular before...blood stains were difficult to clean without throwing the shoes in a washing machine...with a ton of bleach. These ugly looking duck shoes can be sprayed with disinfectant and wiped clean with a towel and worn immediately afterward. Unfortunately..you have a bunch of low life idiots that will wear these to make other people think they have important jobs in the medical field...I get irritated when I see people wearing black or navy BDU's that I KNOW aren't in emergency medicine...or people wearing camoflauge that were never in the service....

I believe these shoes 1st became popular with hospital staff. They are extremely comfortable for those who are on their feet all day and can easily be scrubbed and sanitized. They are not a fashion statement in any way shape or form, but I doubt they were ever intended to be one. It's all about comfort just like the UGG boots. And people wear them in the summer. How ridiculous is that...ugggh!

Wow, I have never seen them before, but they are awful! I fully agree with you, why anyone would wear these shoes is beyond me!

They are not the coolest ever. Besides cool is relative. Speak your mind.

Personally, these eye-sores gag me. They should be put in storage and forgotten about at the very least, lest some forigen visitor to our planet shoud apper and feel judgmental. What would that do for the futur of our species???

Peace.
Doug

THANK YOU. I was almost scared to view the comments on this because I figured I'd get a few people telling me that I was crazy and stupid and that these shoes are THE coolest things ever.

So now I know I'm not turning into a crotchety old lady. Well, maybe I am. But at least I still have my comment sense in tact. heehee

I'm with Melissa. I totally thought they were gardening clogs, but now that that myth has been debunked, I'm frightened! As a shoe snob, I'm offended by the sight of them.

God my eyes! There is nothing wrong with you, Lisa. There is EVERYTHING wrong with the manufacturer and said wearer of these hideous things. Can I add the Ugh boots as another fashion faux pas? Bitches wear those in LA for god sake. It's 70-80 degrees out! Sasquatch would be appalled.
