Things that make your stomach queasy…

When you’re on the computer upstairs and you hear a loud “thunk” downstairs. Then you hear your (almost) four-year-old child screaming and wailing. After a few minutes of on-going moaning and sobbing you hear hubby say, “Ok Seth. I need you to calm down. I need to check to see if anything’s broken….”

Oh SHIT!

Fortunately, nothing was broken. But gah!

Isn’t it weird how you wait a second to see if it’s going to be serious or not? 12 years of this and I still do that EXACT thing. No blood, no foul, though. lol

I love that you wait the few minutes…LOL

Glad Seth is ok. I do the waiting, too. On the weekends Adam hangs out with Hugo while I sleep in and if I hear crying I give it a few minutes. Then I get up and offer to help.

Ohhh…I just hate unidentified thunks. One of the mysteries of parenthood.

Oh no! What did he get into?? As long as only his pride was hurt.

Daniel used to pull down things in the refridgerator. Juice, cheese, ranch dressing…my favorite was a dozen eggs/grape juice combo.

Nothing says cute like a purple, slimy three-year-old.

My 8 month old just started cruising. I hear a thunk every 15 seconds. I noticed that if I don’t wait a minute I might just get a cry even if it WAS only his pride that was hurt.

    Ugh.. The thud..

My daughter is four now. At barely two, she decided to come out with me and stand on the porch while I brought groceries in which she did a lot, so it was no big deal just as long as I could see her.

Well, that day she decided to come down from the porch and the small heel of her Mary Jane got caught on the top step and she slid down all three on her tiny face.. It seemed like slo-mo, and I was horrified.. I screamed and ran.. I just knew she’d broken a tooth. I actually think she recovered quicker than I did, crying briefly then asking for her drink.

She ended up just a little skinned on her hands and legs, but her nose was really scraped up. She had that nice “Rudolph” look. It just so happened that I was also planning to have her pictures made. Now it seems a tradition.. Anytime I consider pictures, even if it’s only in my head, she somehow wounds her face!

Oooh! My heart skipped a beat. I wait a second too, to see what kind of cry it is. Then the next thunks are my feet running down the stairs. I can’t help it, even if Daddy has it covered. But I’ve also found that if the fall causing the thunk wasn’t so bad and I overreact, Gabe overreacts, too. I learned to wait that split second when he was learning to walk because if I didn’t wait, he’d look to me to see how I reacted and if it was dramatic, bring on the tears.

So what caused the thunk? Glad Seth is okay.

I think my organs would have shifted if I heard the same thing. I’m glad to hear everyone’s alright. Happy Mother’s Day - I hope it’s injury-free.

That happens a lot around here and it makes your stomach do flip flops!

    Have a great Mother’s Day :)
