Fun! Fearless! Females!
There are some very insightful, witty, wonderful bloggers in St. Louis. And on Saturday I was lucky enough to meet up with two of them.
Stephanie, Melissa and I got together for some Chinese food. If you read both women’s blogs, you know they are engaging writers. In real life? They are both sassy, eloquent, intelligent women who are A LOT of fun.
I met Stephanie a few weeks ago. We had such a great time, we couldn’t wait to get together and meet other local bloggers. It turns out that a few other chickies couldn’t make it. While we were bummed, we were also very excited about meeting Melissa.
Melissa has got fantastic skin. And her voice! Its like the auditory equivalent to my favorite chocolate — very soothing, rich, and smooth. Her mannerisms — the way she will tilt her head at times and the look in her eyes as she’s delivering a witty remark — remind me of Marc’s sister Nicole. And I ADORE Nicole. So in the first moments of meeting Melissa I knew she’d be very entertaining and I’d love talking to her.
The three of us talked about our sons, art, and traded labor stories. Melissa works for the St. Louis Art Museum. And she’s been working on some amazing projects. (I found myself on the edge of my seat, while listening.) We talked about our blogs, neighbors, other peoples’ blogs and admired a most beautiful 8-week-old girl next to us.
We also talked about all of the things we’d like to blog about but can’t for various reasons. That was a very interesting, lively topic. Although this was my first meeting with Melissa and second with Stephanie, it felt like we’ve been friends for years. We already knew so much about each other from reading each other’s blogs. The conversation was easy, brisk, and intimate.
After four hours of “lunch” we had to get going. Again, the time flew by. But this time my back wasn’t aching. (Three cheers for this little thingee Marc bought years ago that is supposed to be used by a medical professional and NOT by people like us. Will have to blog about it later.)
We begrudgingly said our good-byes and promised to get together again soon. I had a stupid, big grin on my face the whole way home and for hours afterwards.
So thanks Stephanie and Melissa. You made my week.
And also, Jaelithe, Andrea, Allison, Linlee, Jlynn, and others? We hope to meet up with you soon.
Oh and my blog won’t post photos right now for some reason. But I’m working on fixing that.

That sounds so nice to be able to meet other bloggers in your area. I would love to do that. I think bloggers click because we all have somewhat of a live out loud philosophy, are open, entertaining (or try at least) etc.
Glad you got to know the ones you read.

I really did have a great time with you, Lisa. I feel like when we’re hanging out we’re in some time warp where it goes by way too fast! Could you believe 4 hours had passed? Insane!

Sounds Like fun Lisa, how nice to be able to share real time and communication with like minded people who have become entrenched in blogging.Cant say I have wanted to meet anyone from my space, but My content is of a highly personal nature hence my reluctance.

Man! Even people who didn’t go to blogher got a mini-blogher.
I’m so jealous.

I am so jealous! I missed BlogHer AND the latest STL hang-out. Of course, I did spend my weekend at the first two days of a three-day birthday party, so, you know, at least there was cake. Damn good cake, if I say so myself, which I do, since I spent six hours making it.
I’m so sorry I couldn’t come with you guys, this time, but thanks for inviting me, Lisa! Email me at stateofdiscontent AT gmail.com when all of you are getting together again.

So. Cool.
I swear, I don’t think there’s a blogger within 100 miles of me.
It’s great that you guys got to hang out. I’m only a little jealous. Especially since I read all of you and you’re all so cool…

Queue, come to Wordpress were the problems never arise! Wordpress.com is totally free and easy and beautiful. Wordpress.org is a free download if you host yourself somewhere else.
I’ve been having problems leaving comments too, Lisa.
So, let it be said, Lisa, I love you and I had a blast with you guys!

I am weirdly glad I am not the only one who has had trouble leaving comments on Lisa’s site lately. I was beginning to think I was the only one, and I thought she might think I was making it up! Heh.
Silly Blogger.

Wow–what fun! I wish I lived near bloggers that I read and got to meet up with them. Hmmm. I’m thinking that I either need to move to St. Louis or Toronto now!

Try deleting your Temporary Internet files, then posting the pic again (HBM told me this one!)

i am so jealous! i have met one other blogger, and she’s awesome. unfortunately, i can’t seem to find many bloggers in SC. i guess i know why people think we are so backwards here…
i did find one other blogger here in columbia, but it was a guy just detailing his sex life with his wife and talking about how he’s tempted to cheat on her. yuck! why would anyone write that stuff???
glad you guys had such a good time! lots of envy coming my way. i’d love to meet you and steph!

There are pics at my place(!), but I’m with metro mama on deleting the temporary internet files.

Damn all you people with the cool blog hookups.
I don’t think it’s so popular here in Kansas. I may have to make a trip to St. Louie.

I think it’s so cool that you got together with other local bloggers! I do it every week with a mix of bloggers/non bloggers, although I think a group of all bloggers would be even more fun because you can talk about… blogging! without the rest of the group wanting to throw up.
Can’t wait to see the pics! You should put them on Flickr and them cut/paste the html in your blog. (If I just spoke Greek, I’m sorry!)
