My friend who always had a hard time with sleeping took something from the health food store and it worked wonders for him, he said. I forgot the name of it now. But it wouldn't be a bad idea to run into one of those holistic places and ask.

what an idiot! obviously he has had neither a migraine not insomnia!

Besides, I have a sleep disorder and the more tired I am the worse it gets! I was off my meds to have my son and i never slept more than 4 hours at a time. it was hell. I wouldn't go to sleep till sometimes 5 or 6 am and then I had to get up and go to work AND I was pregnant. NOT FUN! So now I am medicated and if I can ever get pregnant again (which doesn't seem to be happening) it will have to be while I am medicated. Because none of us can survive me unmedicated.

Good luck! I hope you can find a solution!

Excuse my French, but I fucking hate doctors.

Really.

Haven't met a single one that I've like yet.

I'm sorry that you were treated this way, but sadly I'm not surprised. I hope that you will find a cure to your sleep issues VERY SOON!

Lisa - call Barnes' Sleep Clinic. They're very good and they even hold the sleep clinic at The Chase! This is who my dad goes through and he hasn't had any problems. They originally gave him the CPAP machine, but I think they're going to look into something else for him this time. He just went last night.

I wouldn't give this idiot a second chance to piss you off.

There is a long line at the gates of heaven. However, occaisionally someone strolls past the line to the front and announces himself as a Doctor and walks right in. The exeption is an old man who keeps walking up to the front and being turned away. When asked who the old man is, Saint Peter replies "Oh, thats just god trying to pretend he's a doctor".

Oh, and to Mr Anon, its "Plain" not "Plane" dumbass.

To anon,
>>It is hormones, plane and simple.

Are you a doctor? Or is it hormones because she is female?

>>You rarely ever here of men having all of these problems.

Actually I do hear of men having these problems. It's called being an asshole. They rarely see doctors for that.

>>Women get hormonal, making their mind play terrible tricks on them.

Are you from 1950? How old are you?
....Dad? Is that you?

Dude, you do not need that. Find a new doctor. Wait, let me rephrase. Stay with this doctor for now, get your sleep study done, then promptly drop his sorry ass. SO sorry that you have to deal with migraines AND sleep problems - that sucks. Sounds like a negative cycle. I would have at least given you a sympathetic look, had I a medical degree. I am giving you one now, without that degree. Hope things improve soon.

If you can afford it, try finding a naturopathic doctor. They work mostly with herbs and stuff but at least in CA...oops, I forgot the midwestern part...they can prescribe drugs, too.

My naturopath LISTENS - my first appt was 90 minutes...it is so wonderful to be with someone who cares and explains things fully.

Hmm, an ass of an anonymous male commenter and and ass of a male doctor all on the same page. Lovely.

Unfortunately, I can confirm that this does happen to the rest of us, too. I am so sick of healthcare "professionals" acting like they are better and smarter than anyone else. Just because someone didn't choose to go to med school doesn't mean that person is a moron. Where would these doctors be without the rest of us to, you know, run all aspects of society that are not directly related to medicine?

I'm so sorry you had to go through that, on top of the pain and stress you're already dealing with from your health issues.

Are there any friends or relatives nearby who could help out by watching Seth for a few days while you are going through this sleep adjustment experiment Dr. No Manners wants you to try?

I would volunteer my own time, if I anticipated actually having any in the next couple of weeks. (I could probably swing it for one day, but I don't know if one day would help you . . . and that is of course assuming you want to leave your kid with someone you've never met in person, heh. Andrea can tell you I'm not a serial killer, right Andrea?)

I'll just add one more "what an ass!" for good measure.

If I were you (which I'm not), I would get the sleep study, then ask your doc for all your records (including the sleep study) and get a new doctor.

I sympathize so much. Not only do I have insomnia (but mine is nowhere as bad as yours, I only have it about once a month and I can call in sick to work and lay on the couch all day because I don't have a child to care for), but I have had my share of asshole doctors. One doctor told me that my (still undiagnosed, very painful) back and hamstring problems were psychosomatic... meaning all in my head. Another said "Wow, taht looks like it's going to hurt" while I was about to get a cortison injection in my back.

I'm sorry about all this. Oh, and I hope "anonymous" gets punched in the face by a woman is PMSing. And then kicked in the balls too.
