Growing Pains
Usually when Seth gets a new pair of shoes, I buy another pair in the next larger size. Being that he seems to grow out of shoes and shirts overnight, this tactic has saved us many a time.
He’s got this really cute pair now… But he’s recently found the pair I bought that’s a half-size larger. They are Hotwheels car shoes. And they even light up. (Oh Target, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways!)
So every day he insists that his current shoes are too small and he NEEDS the “car shoes”.
But today, he varied his tactic somewhat. He said, “See mom. I’m growing. I’m getting bigger. Just like your boobs!”

“Just like your boobs!” LOL
If my son’s feet grow in any sort of way that is relative to the rate at which my boobs tend to grow, well, the two of us could get together and take over the world.

OMG! He did NOT! Ugh.
Cagey on 09 Nov 2006 at 10:29 pm #
Wait. Your boobs are growing?
More on that, less on the shoes…..
Lisa on 09 Nov 2006 at 10:37 pm #
Nope. My boobs aren’t growing… At least I don’t think so…
I guess I should have included that bit of info on the post, yes? heehee

That’s great Lisa! Reminds me of my son telling me my belly (as I’m expecting) is normal and it’s always this big! NO it’s not!

Wow…talk about flattery!!!!!!!
Anonymous on 10 Nov 2006 at 8:39 am #
He’s picking it up quickly, eh? Flattery will get you everywhere! He’ll soon be arguing, “but I said you looked beyootiful, now can I have [fill-in current trend in toys]?
Heehee.

Just like your boobs.
Ha!

Ha! That’s hilarious!
I gave in on his birthday and let Nick wear the shoes (a present, light-up Scooby Doo shoes) that are a size too big. He wears them often. It makes me a bad mommy–with a very happy kid. And it doesn’t seem to have hurt him yet…
Jen on 10 Nov 2006 at 2:10 pm #
HA! Could have been worse… honest to God, my friend’s kid once said a similar thing to her, except he said “Just like Mommy’s butt!” OUCH!
So are you going to let him wear the precious car shoes? Sounds like you have a great “Better eat your veggies, so you grow really fast” incentive on your hands

Thanks for the morning laughter session. I have tears in my eyes now.

Just like your boobs?!?! Too much
My guy tries the same trick to get the shoes I have saved on the top shelf but he’s never pulled out the boob line.
Andrea on 10 Nov 2006 at 8:22 pm #
Just like your boobs, huh? Boobs only get bigger for a couple of reasons. I’ll give you that there’s Halloween candy that’s part of the culprit, but is there something you need to tell us?
Hmm? Hmmmm? Hmmmmmmmm?
Lisa on 10 Nov 2006 at 9:25 pm #
Nope. The boobs aren’t getting bigger. I am not pregnant. In fact, I just peed on a stick a few hours ago and got a “no”. I’ll probably start today or tomorrow.
But if I ever get pregnant, I’d be telling you all first. (Ok. Second since my “baby daddy” might need to know first. heehee.)

Light up shoes! I’m jealous. Let’s talk about bigger boobs..lol and bigger pants. I’m going to have to buy prego pants this weekend.
wendy boucher on 11 Nov 2006 at 1:02 am #
Girlie’s school doesn’t permit light up shoes because they do a lot of work on floor mats and light up shoes might be distracting. Darn. I feel like I’ve really missed out. I want light up shoes for me too, by the way, for when I walk the dog.

Aw, gotta love ‘em.
Red Rollerskate on 11 Nov 2006 at 5:27 am #
I mean, the kids, not the boobs.
Actually, love both.

Mommy off the Record on 11 Nov 2006 at 6:27 am #
LOL. That’s a clever kid you got there!
p.s. Your boobs are getting bigger while my boobs are getting smaller. No fair!
HollowSquirrel on 11 Nov 2006 at 9:51 pm #
That is awesome. Seth rocks.
Are you pregnant? Growing boobs? Just a thought.
Anonymous on 12 Nov 2006 at 3:24 am #

At least he didn’t say your belly or your butt…. You have to tell him this story when he grows up. How fun to have something to mortify him with.
