In the Motherhood
Is it just me or do ya’ll roll your eyes at most of the fall previews for new comedies? Oh look! A tubby, bumbling, clueless guy and his hot, good-natured wife. Ohhhh. There’s the single guy who’s always got an angle and his one friend with a conscience. Gag.
(Thank you God for “The Office”.)
I’ve often thought, if scriptwriters want some fresh, funny, material they should check out the mom blogs. With moms living out loud, there’s tons of funny antics and shenanigans in the blog-o-sphere.
Well, some wise person figured this out. And they put a cool plan in motion. That plan is “In the Motherhood.” We? Supply the stories. Professional screenwriters develop the characters and story lines. The final product? Some pretty funny (and highly-entertaining) webisodes.
Typically, the site will have a featured topic like “child’s worst meltdown” or “funniest mother-in-law childcare advice.” Moms write their stories in paragraph form. The on-line mom community votes and nominates the best entries. And Viola. Your story could be brought to life! But at least this time, that horrifying/humiliating/unbelievable moment isn’t happening to YOU again.
Leah Remini stars and if you check out the YouTube on their site, you will see that it IS hysterical. (And I’m not even a big fan of Leah. But I DO like her in this venture.)
So go check it out and have some fun!

I was never a big Leah Remini fan before, but yes, she was funny in this! Surprised me. I recently read the chapstick blog.. can’t place it though! Thank you for giving me a belly laugh tonight with that site. I plan on watching it again! If you write, let me know and I’ll vote for you!

I heard of their site from Chelle at Crazy Thoughts and went through it. It seemed very unorganized and difficult to navigate. The idea is interesting, I’ve been watching from the sidelines to see how it turns out, could be fun.

I saw Leah Remini talking about this on “Ellen” and it looked interesting. We’ll see . . .

They sent me an invite a few weeks ago. It does look hilarious. I am just not that motivated at the moment.

Wow, I was thinking about this earlier today and started drawing out scenes in my head at the playground.
Their idea sounds interesting, I’m on my way over right now…

It’s not really the writers fault. They go in an pitch good ideas. Then the studio execs look at them with suspicion, ask why there’s no fumbling and bumbling dad and a super -hot mom and the wise buddy character. The writer sighs, waits for his or her face to stop being beet-red, and then agrees to go back home and write in those characters…
It sucks. Make them pay — don’t watch. Hopefully, the execs will get the hint.

What you don’t think the Geico Caveman show is gonna be a hit.
I watched it, but it wasn’t as funny as I thought it would be. I had already read about that cat and chapstick.

There is constant hilarity here. I just can’t seem to reiterate it when called upon. However, I am highly amused by the experiences of other moms. It will be fun to have a show we can all relate to. Thanks for the link.

Oh, we’re going to miss the King of Queens.
Of all the TV couples…we’re the most like them.
For this summer, I have to admit that I’m super-pumped about Hell’s Kitchen coming back on.
I don’t know why my hubby & I got hooked on that….but we did. We love it.
