Oh crap, "Tweed" is back…

Last summer our usually sweet, shy, mild-mannered boy morphed into a character he calls “Tweed”.

“Tweed” is a super-squirrelly, larger-than-life, hyper-spaz from some far off land. “Tweed” has a few good points – like being outgoing and friendly. But that’s pretty much it. It is as if this “Tweed” character kicked the little man’s butt then inhabited his body. All. Last. Summer.

Seth is a gentle little soul but “Tweed” was destructive and obnoxious. And of course, Seth blamed any broken rules, or transgressions on “Tweed”. (Seth spent a lot of time in “timeout” when “Tweed” emerged.) While I love my sweet-tempered, little Seth, “Tweed” got on our nerves somethin’ fierce.

As the morning air grew crisp and cold, “Tweed” ran off. We had our charming boy back. Oh happy day! But now that the first signs of summer are upon us, “Tweed” has returned. It may be Another. Long. Summer.

I blame it on the fact that the boy was born a Gemini. No, he doesn’t have multiple personalities, he’s a Gemini! Don’t get me wrong — there’s lots of crazy in the family — on both sides, even. But not THAT kind of crazy.

I’m thinking maybe parents of Gemini children should be able to get an extra tax break. With all of that duality, a parent DOES get more “kid” for the money.

(P.S. I’m not saying Geminis are crazy. At least no crazier than any other sign.)

Another mother of a Gemini here (who is a daughter of two Geminis!). I so get this.

Hope Tweed takes a trip somewhere and he welcomes some new sweeter, quiter, stiller summer friend

Perhaps you should tell him that Tweed didn’t get into school this year, and if he wants to go in the fall he’ll send him packing!

Should I feel inadequate that I didn’t have the imagination or depth to have an imaginary alter ego as a child?

I am married to a Gemini and honestly that’s enough! LOL.

It seems so odd to only have a friend during the summer, especially one who ruins the whole thing for ya by getting you sent to time outs :-(

That Tweed is obviously an imaginary child of shared custody and gets to spend the summer with his imaginary custodial parents…

I thought for sure from the title this was a fashion post!

I think this Tweed character is kind of funny. How cute…

OH those Gemini’s!! I have 3 in my family, dad and 2 brothers. Enough!! Good luck this summer with the Tweed.

Munchkin is a Gemini too. It is hard to keep up with the changing personality. Although none of his have an actual name.

I hope tweed only shows up for a short summer vacation.

My best friend is a gemini. You hit it right on the head. With any luck, Tweed will have mellowed over the course of the winter.

I suppose I should consider myself lucky that I was blessed with a Taurus. Hmmm… maybe not.

I remember Tweed from last summer!

I am a Gemini. Yes, we are difficult. We do well when balanced by a more stable sign. Is tweed ready for a girlfiend? Maybe a nice, rule-following Virgo? Someone to keep him in line?

So, Tweed appears as the birthday approaches… maybe an alter ego would make me happier at birthday time too!!

    Oh not Tweed again..lol
What happened to the muscle man post? Brinnon didn’t get to see it. If u get a chance, email it to me. It’s hilarious.

Uh oh — sorry to hear about the return of Tweed! At first I thought you were talking about fashion and wondered why Tweed was something to get upset about. AHem.

Breathe a sigh of relief because at least “Tweed” can’t tie Seth up with a tiny ball of string found in a moving box. Well, knowing boys, maybe he can.

I am a Gemini and so much like Tweed. I so identify. My mothere had lots of stories on me and my duality. Good luck, and we do grow up to be a lot of fun. :)

I think Seth is onto something! I think I need a Tweed (I’m going to call her Tweetie.) “Why aren’t the dishes done? Oops, Tweetie must have forgotten. Those clothes that never made it into drawers? Tweetie must not have felt like it. Sorry, honey, no sex tonight. Tweetie has a headache.”

    Think of the possibilities!

    I remember Tweed! He’s back?

I just love saying his name.
    Tweed.

  19. Jaelithe on May 24th, 2007 2:18 am

I have to agree with MOTR– Tweed is an awesome name. Maybe when Seth is older he could write stories about Tweed. Like, “The Terrific Adventures of Terrible Tweed,” or something.

Which do you think is worse: parenting a Gemini, or parenting a Taurus? (While also being married to a Taurus, mind you.)

  20. Scribbit on May 24th, 2007 6:47 am

I am so tired I just need to go to bed, I can’t even read properly :)

Forget previous comment and call me an idiot.

  21. Christina_the_wench on May 24th, 2007 1:22 pm

Here’s some duct tape for Tweed. *hands her a new roll*

  22. Grim Reality Girl on May 24th, 2007 2:48 pm

Thanks for taking Tweed back. I think he posessed my son Wonder Boy quite a few times this year…. I could use the break but would not wish such Tweed upon you. May he move on like a nomad to haunt another family :-)

  23. Pattie on May 24th, 2007 4:51 pm

oh dear…I quite remember you posting about Tweed before. *sigh* Maybe it’s a weather thing? You might consider moving to Antartica or something til it blows over *LOL*

  24. mk on May 24th, 2007 8:07 pm

Oh gosh that sucks! Good luck and lets just hope he came to visit for Memorial Day weekend, but can;t stay for the summer.

  25. Misty on May 24th, 2007 9:46 pm

this is really a bizarre thing. My daughter (now 8) always becomes a less lovely version of herself around march… By July she is back to normal but we get an “Indian Summer” visit from her other half- for the first month of school…
Although she is no Gemini, please allow me a bit of peace and relief at the fact that this bizarre phenominon has at least plagued one other family :)
