You know you’re tired when…
While I celebrated Seth’s first day back at school by putting away Christmas decorations and reading blogs the boy’s brain was hard at work. Apparently his brain got NO “exercise” while on Christmas vacation and that first day back was a rough one. The little man fell asleep in a shopping cart at the grocery store. (He used my purse as a pillow.)
I would have gladly forgone the trip but we were out of a whole slew of stuff. So I just got the essentials and tried to stack them around him. Hey, at least I tried to keep any corners away from his face.
(Note: This is what your grocery cart looks like when you have a husband who travels alot and only one child. Frozen din-dins for everyone! Oh and eggs and brownie mix too.)

Poor little guy! Drew fell asleep at supper on his first day back, and he goes to bed easily and quickly every night. I find myself counting the days until Nicky starts school in August, hoping that will make him be tired, too!

ok, next time make that picture bigger so I can see the full on sleep effect. That is HILARIOUS and the best picture I’ve squinted at in a while!!

He shopped till he dropped!
Such a cute pic — never mind those school portraits; THIS is life as it’s really lived!
BTW, that grocery cart looks like one of mine. Save me a brownie…

Bless his heart. Jake has had a rough go of it too. His first day back he went to adventure club too(even though we were both home because we were painting the basement) and when I picked him up he was asleep on the floor in the cafeteria. I felt horrible. He didn’t want dinner, and went straight to bed and slept through the night. Needless to say, I didn’t have him go to adventure club the next day.

I remember those days of the kid falling asleep in the cart. Many times I had to use my purse or fold up my coat so she had a semi-comfy spot to lay her head/face on.

Happy New Year to you Lisa
I love this picture - it says it all!
One little man is so totally over the holidays!!!!!
Also love the contents of the cart. Ours looked similar last week when it was a rainy day….two cake mixes, three tubs of frosting, some fire logs and some sour cream and onion Ritz crackers (I sooooo almost went for Chicken in a basket…I was this close!)…
I walked out of there head held high…
The diet starts tomorrow - right?

Awww, poor little sweetie! I remember when my boys used to like what Nathan called “Kid Wa-zine” dinners. And Happy New Year!

I love it! I especially love the contents of your grocery cart. . . I always wonder how the hell mothers grocery shop for an entire family, for all those breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and dinners. . . how much all of that must cost. . . and then I see this, and it makes me laugh. As you always make me do.

That’s too funny. I envy those people (mostly kids) who can fall asleep anywhere, regardless of comfort or surroundings. Of course, it’s not just kids… my dad has been known to lay down on the floor in the middle of a family gathering and fall fast sleep.
I think it was nice of Seth to leave some room for the groceries!

Oh my. It’s been a long while, but yes, I’ve totally done that!!
Although now my lazy ass will end up ordering Chinese instead of just buying the frozen dinners and brownies. My lazy ass NEEDS me to buy the frozen dinners instead!!

What a lucky kid…you have a soft purse. My kids would be laying on a backpack stuffed with pens and other pokey crap.
And what a good mother you are for piling things in around him.
One question though: did you get all you needed to, or did you go for the bare minimum since the majority of your cart was small boy?

I had to look REAL hard and then click on the pic to find Seth - poor little man - school can be SO tiring! My Little Brownie (formerly known as, Mini-me) falls asleep in the funniest places, too. I chalk it up to inheriting her mother’s easy-going, WHATEVER, type personality ;o)

Oh my goodness… what an angel! That is a great shot - can’t believe he was so pooped he fell asleep in the cart!
angela on 12 Jan 2008 at 11:34 pm #
That’s super cute that he’s all snuggled up with his frozen dinners. Poor tired little guy.

So cute!

Awww, poor baby. I love when they fall asleep in odd places.
Pat doesn’t travel that often and my cart looks like that. What does that say about me? Oh wait, I think my name says it all.
