We once had a girl cat named Robert because my kids didn’t care that Robert was a boys name.

I like Bessy. Bessy is a good name of a car that didn’t quit years ago. Even tho I banged her up and gave her what-for and put the pedal to the floor more often than not. Bessy was tried and true.

I also like Beth. It rhymes with Seth, and I’ve never met a Beth I didn’t like.

One last one? Annie. Annie after the little orphan you’ve just adopted. It’s also one of my favorite names!

I had a computer once that I named Desdemona. Not because she in any way particularly resembled the Shakespeare character. It just sounded good when the computer crashed and I could say “DAMN you, Desdemona!”

I’ve stopped naming computers, though. For the same reason that farmers don’t name their livestock. It could die at any time, after all, and I wouldn’t want to get too attached.

But if I were to name a computer, I think I would name it Mnemosyne. Because computers are my aging brain’s backup memory.
