Um... How loud he chews. He doesn't even chew with his mouth open, so I'm not sure how something that is supposed to be virtually inaudible... isn't. Even food that doesn't need to be chewed gets chomped. Is that weird that I notice it? Weirder still that I'm so open about how much it bugs me- It's become a running joke in our house "Oh no, you're eating pudding, lots of chomping to do with THAT, boy, I'd better turn the volume up on the tv!" Good thing thing the dude still thinks I'm hilarious after all this time.

Matter of fact, maybe that's Surprising Thing #2...

Don't even get me started on my ex, and the fact that he's an ex says enough, doesn't it? One thing that bugged me is that he would get on me about my coffee "sugar mess" yet he was the biggest slob around.

I was so appalled that my hubby drank coffee on the shitter. I'm over it now. I actually moved the coffee pot into the bathroom when our kitchen was being renovated. Shockingly he was grossed out. Go figure!

My WiiFit says I'm down 0.9 lbs today. Woohoo!

seriously, it's the fact that my husband cannot stand to let the refrigerator door open... i can be making dinner and going back and forth for items and he'll walk in and shut the door when my arms are full of scallions and chicken broth...

also, i am surprised at home much i miss him when he's not around.

I too have a husband that does not turn off lights and even turns them on during the middle of the day. Some things don't bother me too much, bathroomwise that is, because I shared a bathroom with my brother. Boy did he break me in! My biggest pet peeve is the lack of eye hand coordination to place his dirty socks and underwear in the hamper. They always seem to land right in front of it...hmmmm curious isn't it??

I was shocked at how often he toots. I was shocked at how he could peel the paint off the bathroom wall. I am still shocked that he can't move an item into the dishwasher -- he MUST place it in the sink.

I was also shocked at what a great husband and father he is -- so the other crap is well worth it!

Overall my husband has very few bad habits (or maybe habits that just don't annoy me??) but the two that do are:

leaving baseball-type caps hanging all over the house in places caps don't belong: on the back of the dining room chair, on the banister

and leaving dirty dishes in the sink when the dishwasher in perfectly able to hold them.

And the snoring....on my word. It's endless.

The biggets shock for me was realizing that we are so very different. Like monkeys and horses, different. We are made up of the same stuff but women feel so deeply and need so much caring and support compared to most men. My husband wouldn't care if I never gave him a compliment. I need them though, from HIM! I've had to teach my husband how to make me happy. He wasn't born knowing. I know how to make him happy, (I think), I didn't have to learn. The differences between men and women amaze me every day. Great post, Lisa!! Do you know what I mean?
