Toothy times
This is one very proud boy. Why? Well, do you see that gap? He lost his first tooth today (literally) at school.
Apparently when he realized he lost it, (in a hallway) everyone started hunting for the tooth. But there was no success. He was very upset. The burning question of the day? If a tooth falls out but no one can find it, will the tooth fairy still show? Or more importantly to a 6-year-old saving money for a Darth Vader costume, WILL I STILL GET THE MONEY?
He’s pretty confident the tooth fairy will deliver.
Congrats to Lori and Janelle and Carrie. They all won a FREE gift card for a Pizza Hut pasta dish. (A review on their most recent pasta addition can be found HERE.) Ladies, drop me an e-mail at mother of bun at yahoo dot com and give me your address so that Pizza Hut can send you your gift card!
The support I received after this post was amazing. (Thankfully, the scarey ordeal is no longer “scarey” nor an “ordeal”.) But I wanted to thank everyone who took time to read the post and comment. So I’ll be thanking a group of people as a part of each post until I’ve thanked everyone.

Woo-Hoo . . . for the lost tooth of course! Also, a very tiny woo-hoo for winning free dinner! That’ll come in handy on those soccer practice/taekwondo nights when we don’t feel like cooking! Thanks Lisa!
And Seth, wow! Love the hole your tooth left!

You’re very welcome! I’m just so happy that it turned out to be nothing serious.
Adorable picture of your now toothless son!

what a doll! we love you, girl.
By abunslife, September 10, 2008 @ 10:32 pm
Of course she will still show up! Just have HIM write her a note explaining….then it doubles as a bit of homework too. See how sneaky that is?

Aww. Kinda sad that he couldn’t find the tooth for the “tooth fairy” to keep and treasure forever. Ah well. There are more where that came from.

cute — they get so concerned about that! My daughter just lost one this weekend — washed away by the tide in a wave pool.

We lost one at school too, there was this whole gig about leaving the fairy a note, having the teacher sign it to PROVE that she’d actually lost it and then the fairy came through with a dollar. I’m surprised she didn’t demand that it was notarized.

You are very welcome. I just found out a friend of mine truly does have cancer…I’m so worried for her!
My Princess recently lost her first tooth. So exciting!
My son swallowed one of his teeth eating a sub. Woops!

He does look proud - and so cute with that missing tooth. I’m sure the Tooth Fairy will reward him with or without the tooth itself.

I hear that sometimes she grabs it if she’s in the neighborhood and drops off the loot later.
By Issa, September 11, 2008 @ 3:15 pm
That tooth fairy is generally a pretty nice chick. My oldest lost her first down the kitchen sink. I’m pretty sure I lost my first down a water fountain at school. And yeah, we both still got some loot.

Hey my love
So glad you are doing better. That was such a scare Lisa and you took it like a champ….
And the tooth fairy fyi - is just so bloody clever - that even a note that explains the tooth went awry will be enough to unlock the fairy coffers…
Kisses
Tori

What does a tooth go for these days? When I was little I think they were worth some change. Maybe a dollar if I was lucky…lol
By Beth, September 11, 2008 @ 8:03 pm
Chances are that the little guy swallowed it, so it may in fact still resurface… [insert a resounding "EWWWWW!...."].
When my husband lost his wedding ring a few years ago, he spent a couple of weeks following around the dogs in the yard. Hopefully Seth won’t go to such lengths.

How sweet! Lord I miss the child innocence of toddlers!

Jack would never give up his teeth… we had to leave little notes under his pillow which read: “Dear Tooth Fairy, I have decided to keep my tooth, but please leave money anyway. Love, Jack”
And the she would write back, “Yes, dear Jack, I understand although I am sad to not have your wonderful tooth for my collection and I am happy to still leave you a small token of my friendship…”
Honestly, exhausting.

Oh! He looks so proud! I think the Tooth Fairy needed that tooth so badly she couldn’t wait until night time to get it. She’ll leave him the moolah.

We are on loose tooth watch over here. Because, in first grade, EVERYONE else has lost one by now, don’t ya know?
By vodkamom, September 12, 2008 @ 11:32 pm
The REAL question is, if the tooth fairy has two martini’s before bed, can she tell the difference between a ONE dollar bill and a TEN dollar bill??
By Tatiana, September 13, 2008 @ 12:59 am
Awwh, he must be so thrilled about that tooth being gone! I remember the first tooth I lost — I bled so much — my baby sister was terrified and crying, thinking I was going to die. That didn’t really make me feel too happy either.
So tramautic!
Thanks for swinging by my blog!

Oh, I lost my first tooth at school and couldn’t find it, too! I was so upset.
Then my mother told me that the Tooth Fairy needs pictures of teeth to decorate her Tooth Castle, and so if a kid can’t find his or her lost tooth, she will accept a fairy-sized tooth portrait in its place.
By creative-type dad, September 13, 2008 @ 6:26 am
Maybe the tooth fairy took it early and ran to the bank to withdraw a $100 dollar bill?
Just saying…
By Traceytreasure, September 15, 2008 @ 2:45 am
He is so adorable. So sorry that he couldn’t find the tooth.
I’ll bet any money that the tooth fairy will still deliver
Yay for milestones!!
Big hugs for you both!
By mamatulip, September 15, 2008 @ 2:18 pm
The first lost tooth is a BIG DEAL!! YAY to both of you!
I remember losing a tooth at my grandmother’s house. She had a huge rock patio and I lost it there - I was so upset, but the Tooth Fairy (a.k.a. my dad) left me a note telling me that she’d found my tooth. I got a dollar, back when our dollars were actually bills.
I was thrilled.

And what is the first tooth worth nowadays?
