Giveaway Monday - Books and toys

This week we have two giveaways! One for you and one for your child!

Giveaway # 1
Eric Ruhalter saw that when it comes to parenthood, and describing certain experiences, words within the English language can only get us so far. That’s why he wrote, “The KidDictionary: A Book of Words Parents Need But Don’t Have.”

The book is a funny read. (Here’s a Youtube video of it.) And you’ll probably be able to relate to quite a few of his stories and words. This week he’s giving away a copy of his book to one MotherOfBun reader.

Giveaway #2
leapfrogLeapFrog has launched 1 Million Reading Hours in conjunction with the NEA’s National Reading Month. Pledge to set aside at least 10 minutes a day to read with your children. The national goal is 1 million reading hours committed! We can do that, right? Right! This is where you can win a LeapFrog Tag reader and five books for yourself as well as an expanded memory LeapFrog School Tag reader plus 10 books to give to your local library.

For either giveaway, please leave a comment. If you want to participate in the LeapFrog giveaway, also let us know how much time you’re pledging in the LeapFrog 1 Million Reading Hours Campaign. Both drawings will close at the end of the month. Anyone 18 and older can enter. Must be a United States citizen. And always, feel free to go to MotherOfBun Reviews to leave a comment and increase your odds. Good luck!

Yay! Book Giveaway! I would like to pledge to read to my son an hour everyday. 30 minutes in the morning and 30 at night. Or a book an hour for most of the day. Donating books to the local library is an awesome deal.

  • By cagey, March 9, 2009 @ 8:21 pm

Increasing my odds because I am a greedy thing. I am pledging to read an hour a day to my kids.

  • By Kat, March 9, 2009 @ 8:36 pm

Ok, I am going to be a bit more realistic. I could say I am going to read to my budding pre-schooler for hours and hours but really… I don’t think he would sit that long. Don’t get me wrong, he LOVES to be read to, but he also like when I play cars, legos and Star Wars with him. His pre-school has us log our reading time as well. I think we average 15-20 minutes a night before bed and that doesn’t include the time he is read to at school. So, since that is what is working so far I will be honest and say that I will read to my 4 year old for 15-20 minutes a day. Thankfully the 9 year old loves to read to himself!

  • By Delilah, March 10, 2009 @ 1:54 am

I pretty much already read to my daughter about 20 minutes a day. She’s 2 so I’m lucky if I can do more. She would rather make me sit while she “reads” to me. I will pledge to read twice as much. So maybe 30-40 minutes per day.
